Professor Smith received his PhD in history and legal history from Harvard University in 2007.
Professor Smith is currently drafting a book on early modern corruption that explores historical debates over defining corrupt behaviour. He has also engaged in a large-scale reconstruction of the early modern smuggling economy and the long history of corporate organization and social responsibility.
