My research focuses on the legacy of colonialism in contemporary Latin America. I am currently working on a book manuscript on the reception of the Enlightenment in 20th century Latin American literature and intellectual history. I have also worked on the reception of the Haitian Revolution in the Hispanic world.
My other research interests include Third Cinema, the dictator novel and the aesthetic and ideological dimensions of georgic poetry in the Americas, especially in relation to environmental studies and land reforms.
I have supervised independent studies and honours projects on Spanish literature, Spanish cinema, Latin American literature and ecocriticism.
