I am an educator, middle school band director, saxophonist, and singer. I obtained my Honours Bachelor of Music degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, specializing in education, in 2007 and my Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University in 2009. I started teaching Kindergarten to grade 8 vocal and instrumental music in 2009 with the Peel District School Board and have been teaching middle school concert band in the Waterloo Region District School Board since 2018. As well, I taught music at an international summer camp in the Swiss Alps for five summers between 2006-2013.
I studied conducting with the late Michael Purves-Smith during my undergrad and have been conducting school concert bands of 30-150 students. In 2023, I conducted the middle school portion of the Waterloo Region Honour Band alongside Dr. Kira Omelchenko, Dr. LaToya Webb, Lauren Helmer, and Martin Lacoste at Laurier. I work with the Summer Music Society in Southampton at their music camp, teaching and conducting their beginning band. I have also sung with the Waterloo Region Mass Choir, under the direction of Dr. Darren Hamilton since it was founded in 2018, performing on such stages as the Centre In The Square.
I have been arranging concert band music for the beginner level (grade 0.5-2) since 2016 and started composing original pieces for concert band in 2020.
