Under the tutelage of Dr. Julia Gavrilova, I have studied Piano Performance at McGill University. During my years there, I was the pianist for the Contemporary Music Ensemble, Wind Orchestra and was also part of Chamber Ensembles and Professor Michael McMahon’s Song Interpretation Class for three years. Prior to McGill, I received my ARCT Performer's Piano (2018), earning First Class Honours with Distinction while studying with Dr. Rebekah Jordan-Miller.
I have been a frequent award winner in competitions across Ontario, winning the “Top Senior Award and Trophy” at multiple festivals. I have attended the Music at Port Milford Program for Chamber Music, the Adamant Music School in Vermont, the Summer Sonata Program at the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Orford Academy and the Katowice International Piano Masterclass in Poland, where I studied with Anna Górecka. I have experience teaching all ages and levels and most recently taught at the West Island Conservatory of Music in Montréal. I put a significant focus on creativity and individuality through music in my work with every student.
I strive to make each lesson a positive, engaging experience that tailors to each student’s abilities. I encourage critical thinking during the lessons and help the students to take an active role in their learning of music by asking students to bring their own ideas to the lessons. I emphasise correct technique, hand/sitting positions as well as an understanding of theory and fundamentals in each lesson to provide the basis of my piano lessons.
As an educator, my goal is to integrate performance psychology frameworks into my teaching methodologies to enhance my students’ practice and performance outcomes, while also inspiring students to develop their own unique artistry and passion for music.
