Janfest 2025: An Unmissable Opportunity for Young Musicians!

Join us for Janfest 2025—an expanded, three-day festival designed to inspire young band musicians and enrich their musical journeys. Building on the success of the Waterloo Region Honour Band, Janfest offers students across Ontario the opportunity to learn, perform and connect with talented peers and professionals.

Why Janfest?

Wilfrid Laurier University’s Faculty of Music is excited to support students’ musical growth through tailored rehearsals, masterclasses, and concerts. This unique festival offers:

• Tailored Ensemble Placement
  Placement auditions ensure students join bands that match their skill level, making it a personalized learning experience.

• Intensive Masterclasses and Rehearsals
  Laurier’s music faculty and special guest artists will lead extended rehearsal sessions and masterclasses, where students can develop new skills and techniques on their instruments.

• Concerts and Community Inspiration
  Evening concerts will showcase performances by Laurier faculty, student ensembles, and local community groups, sparking motivation and community spirit.

• Professional Development for Teachers
  Educators will have opportunities for professional growth through resources, networking, and engagement with Laurier faculty.

Nomination & Registration Cost
Teachers can nominate 5–10 students for Janfest. The event fee is expected to be $50 per student—a valuable experience for three days filled with musical growth and inspiration.
