Print | PDFThe Laurier Concerto Competition unfolded in three breathtaking rounds, showcasing remarkable talents from Wilfrid Laurier University's music students.
Among the accomplished semi-finalists were Keri Bailey on trumpet, Lydia Lei playing the guzheng, El Lambert on piano, Evan Turner on French horn, Meghan Mair as a soprano, Kavin Dhanasekaran on piano, Rachel Rotella on violin, Delaney Dam as a mezzo-soprano, Iris Wu on viola, Ren Lamarche on violin, Rachael Harris on flute, and William Brunet on violin.
After the first round, the finalists emerged: Rachael Harris, Meghan Mair, Ren Lamarche, Kavin Dhanasekaran, Lydia Lei, and Rachel Rotella.
In the grand finale, Lydia Lei (guzheng) and Kavin Dhanasekaran (piano) stood triumphant as the 2024 Laurier Concerto Competition winners.
Lydia's historic achievement as the first ever Guzheng winner and Kavin's representation as an outstanding first-year student added an extra layer of significance to this event.
The winner(s) of the Laurier Concerto Competition will perform in a public concert in the next academic year with the WLU Symphony Orchestra/Wind Orchestra.
