William J. McNally is a Professor of finance and has been at Wilfrid Laurier University since 1999. Professor McNally received his M.A. in Economics from Simon Fraser University in 1986 and his Ph.D. in finance from the University of Toronto in 1993. Before joining Laurier, he taught at the University of Victoria. His primary research interests are in insider trading and stock repurchases. Professor McNally’s research has been published in journals such as Management Science and Financial Management. Professor McNally has received over $300,000 in research grants and he has received two best paper awards. Professor McNally is a co-author (with Stanley Eakins) of Corporate Finance Online (Pearson Education), an online introductory finance textbook which is published in both the U.S. and Canada. Professor McNally has been a supervisor of the Laurier Student Investment Fund since 2001.
His primary research interests are in insider trading, stock repurchases and market microstructure. McNally's research has been published in journals such as Financial Management, the Journal of Applied Corporate Finance, the Journal of Financial Research and the Journal of Banking and Finance. McNally is innovative in the use of technology for teaching. He has written a fully digital online textbook titled Corporate Finance Online (published by Pearson Education) with co-author Stanley Eakins.
