Print | PDFThe 2017 cohort of the Lazaridis Executive Master’s in Technology Management (EMTM) program marked the completion of their academic journey with the presentation of their major research papers on July 20.
Friends, family and faculty were on hand to celebrate the achievements of the EMTM learners as they completed the 11-month program focused on equipping senior managers in the tech sector with the kind of adaptive knowledge needed to navigate and lead this dynamic industry.
The topics of the major research papers ranged from the role of artificial intelligence in caring for seniors to the necessity of annual reports. The EMTM program encourages learners to identify a unique problem within their organizations or the wider tech industry that requires a solution rooted in innovation. Throughout the program, learners apply their understanding of the curriculum and practical research findings toward these final papers.
With the current tech environment defined by emerging innovations that disrupt established business models and create new ones, many EMTM learners will apply the practical research they produced in the program to enact the solutions proposed in their MRPs, expanding the reach of the program into the very industry it is designed to support.
The MRP defence day ended with an informal ceremony that honoured the individual achievements of each learner. “This has been a special cohort of professionals who come from very diverse backgrounds and have been able to share their experiences with one another over the last 11 months,” says program director, Hamid Noori. “We look forward to continuing to build on the strength of each cohort as more industry leaders recognize the value of the unique program we deliver.”
Beyond the research, practical skills and sense of accomplishment, the EMTM class of 2018 also leaves the Lazaridis School with an expanded network of friends and colleagues with whom to share news, professional challenges and business ideas for years to come.
