Print | PDFWith the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting the world and fundamentally changing the way educational institutions operate, Wilfrid Laurier University’s Lazaridis School of Business and Economics has launched a series of webinars dedicated specifically to prospective undergraduate students with offers of admission, in hopes to help ease the transition to post-secondary life.
The week of April 27, the Lazaridis School hosted three webinars designed to provide a platform for potential students to come together, meet professors, and get a big-picture overview of undergraduate programs. Attendees asked questions directly to some of the school’s faculty and staff.
The week started with more than 200 prospective students and parents logged on for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Information Session Webinar. Attendees were welcomed by BBA Program Director and Associate Professor Karin Schnarr, along with first-year Associate Professor Sofy Carayannopoulos.
“Sofy is one of the first faces our BBA students will see in the classroom,” Schnarr explained, “We hand-pick our instructors for the first-year courses because they understand the unique challenges incoming students might face.”
After the formal presentation, Carayannopoulos was available to answer questions about the first-year experience in the BBA program.
Later in the week, the Lazaridis School hosted an Economics Information Session with Ken Jackson, who teaches first-year Economics to BBA and Economics Students. Jackson is the Undergraduate Program Director and Associate Professor. Then, Associate Professor Josephine McMurray hosted an information session for the Business Technology Management program offered at our Brantford campus.
On May 12-14 the Lazaridis School held its next series of webinars focussed on “Everything You Need to Know About Finance, Marketing and Accounting” – three of the 10 areas of specialization within the BBA program. Professors from each respective area were on-hand to present and help answer student questions.
If you are a student with an offer to the Lazaridis School and you were unable to attend the webinars, or if you want more information about the Lazaridis School’s undergraduate programs, we invite you to watch the pre-recorded videos. All videos are hosted on Laurier’s Open House @Home website, an initiative that offers webinars, podcasts, ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions, virtual tours, and more.
In the final webinar of our series, a selection of students will speak to why they feel Laurier is ranked No. 1 in Student Satisfaction in Maclean’s for the fourth year running. They’ll offer a sneak peek into life outside of the classroom, talking about student clubs and external competitions.
