Print | PDFWilfrid Laurier University’s Lazaridis School of Business and Economics is pleased to announce the addition of 10 new members to its Dean’s Advisory Councils. The Lazaridis School supports two advisory councils located in Waterloo and Toronto and five satellite councils in Calgary, Ottawa, New York, N.Y., U.S., Silicon Valley, Calif., U.S., and London, U.K.
The mandate of Councils is to supply advice and guidance, to serve as an advocate for the Lazaridis School in their communities, and to work to support the achievements of the Lazaridis School’s strategic initiatives.
The following members have begun a three-year term:
Krystelle Bilodeau (MBA ’05)
Director, Payment and Settlement Operations, Bank of Canada
Bilodeau has worked in the financial sector for more than 16 years with 12 years at the Bank of Canada. She has held a range of leadership positions including director of Retail and Wholesale Debt Administration responsible for large and complex outsourced operations and director of Awareness and Education in the Currency Department during Canada’s successful transition from paper-based to polymer-based currency. She serves as a board member for Entraide Budgétaire Ottawa, Advisory Board member for SIG and member of the Strategic Direction Committee for PotentiELLE, the Bank of Canada’s women’s leadership network. She has a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Ottawa and a Lazaridis MBA.
Peter Boehm (BA History/English ’77)
Senator
Senator Boehm was Deputy Minister for the G-7 Summit and Personal Representative of the Prime Minister from July 2017 until his retirement from the Public Service in 2018. He has served in numerous roles for the Government of Canada, including Deputy Minister of International Development, Senior Associate Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to Germany, Minister at the Embassy of Canada to the United States, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States as well as diplomatic assignments in Costa Rica and Cuba. He was appointed to the Senate of Canada, representing the province of Ontario, in October 2018. Senator Boehm holds a PhD in History from the University of Edinburgh, a Master of Arts in International Affairs from Carleton and a Bachelor of Arts in English and History from Laurier.
Sabrina Fitzgerald (BBA ’00)
National Technology Sector Leader & Managing Partner, Capital Region, PwC
With more than two decades at PwC in both the public and private company spaces, Fitzgerald’s focus areas include mergers and acquisitions, succession and estate planning, remuneration strategies, corporate reorganizations and corporate and personal tax integration. An active member of the community, she sits on the Executive of YPO-Ottawa Chapter, Committee for Gender Equality at the Ottawa Board of Trade. Previously, she was Chair of the Board of Directors for the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce. She currently sits on the Tree Canada board of directors as well. Fitzgerald graduated from the Lazaridis School with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).
Jacqueline Márquez Rojano
Minister Representative for Trade and Investment, Office of the Mexican Ministry of Economy in Canada
In July 2019, Márquez Rojano began her appointment as Minister Representative for Trade and Investment at the office of the Mexican Ministry of Economy in Canada. Previously, she held senior appointments within the Mexican Ministry of Economy as Director of Legal Affairs for both Foreign Investment and the National Foreign Investment Commission. She also represented the Mexican government before the Investment Committee of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and functioned as an interlocutor before World Bank Group agencies to attract and retain foreign investment. She has an undergraduate degree in Law and a master’s degree in Law from National Autonomous University of Mexico.
Sinead Bovell (BBA ’11)
Founder, Weekly Advice for Young Entrepreneurs
Bovell is driven by her mission to build a progressive, informed and thriving society; one in which technology is built, as she says, “on the right side of history." Known as the Model Who Talks Tech, she's the founder and CEO of WAYE (Weekly Advice for the Young Entrepreneur), an organization that bridges the gap between millennials and the digital future. Bovell has a Lazaridis BBA and a master’s degree in Business from the University of Toronto. She worked in logistics and supply chain for global supply chain leader, Brambles, before moving on to management consulting for A.T. Kearney. She is also co-director of BlockChain for Impact, representing the voice of the youth for the United Nations.
Cathy (Chin) LeBlanc (BBA '02)
Manager, Customer Success, LinkedIn Talent Solutions
LeBlanc has worked in the Customer Success & Talent Acquisition industries for more than 18 years in startup, advisory and tech sectors. In her career, she has been an HR partner, account manager, talent acquisition manager, recruitment product consultant, various customer success roles and finally now, she is the manager, Customer Success for the Mid-Market Enterprise segment. Every day, her team challenges her and forces her to become a better leader. Her other job (along with her husband, Rob LeBlanc, BBA '03), is running a household of three inspiring, loveable and vocal kids in a New Jersey suburb.
Jen Psutka (BBA ’01)
Partner, Assurance PwC
Psutka began her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1999. She is a partner in the assurance practice, focused on financial reporting for public and private companies in the technology sector. Throughout her career she has worked in a variety of industries including technology, manufacturing, education, and non-profit organizations. Psutka is an active volunteer in the community. She currently serves as treasurer and member of the board of governors for Grand River Hospital Foundation in Waterloo. She is a past board member and treasurer for Monica Place and Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region. Psutka graduated from the Lazaridis School BBA program.
Andrea Schneider (BBA ’12)
Legal Counsel, D2L
Schneider is legal counsel at D2L, where she is involved in a variety of corporate and commercial law matters. Prior to joining D2L, she was an associate at McCarthy Tétrault, a prominent national law firm, where she advised clients on securities law matters, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, structured finance and other corporate transactions. While at McCarthy Tétrault, she also completed a client secondment with a leading real estate company, Slate Asset Management. Schneider received her BBA (co-op) from the Lazaridis School, her JD from Queen’s University in 2016, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2017. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
Fayeanne Beattie (BBA ’96)
Chief Financial Officer, GGB Canada
As Chief Financial Officer at GGB Canada, Beattie is responsible for profit and loss reporting, mergers and acquisitions, financial strategy, capital planning, forecasting and long-term budgetary oversight. Previously she was Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Aon Canada where she held responsibility for all financial and operational direction for their Canadian brokerage and health and benefits businesses. Beattie recently served on the board of Fit Spirit and was also Treasurer of the Oakville Girls Softball Association. She continues to be an active member of the Toronto FP&A Board. Beattie holds a Lazaridis BBA (co-op) degree with a minor in in Political Science and also maintains a license as a Chartered Professional Accountant in Canada.
Rebecca McCormick (BBA ’11)
Senior Manager, Capital Markets Accounting Advisory Services, PwC
McCormick began her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in 2012. She is a senior manager in the capital markets and accounting advisory services practice focused on supporting clients through periods of exceptional change. Using her in-depth knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP and the regulatory requirements of both Canada and the U.S., she assists companies with their transactions, capital-raising activities, GAAP conversions, and financial reporting obligations with significant IPO experience from the readiness to the final listing stage. McCormick is a graduate of the Lazaridis BBA.
