Interested in medical school as your next step after graduation? Laurier’s pathway agreement with the American University of the Caribbean (AUC) School of Medicine gives graduates a chance to enter the Doctor of Medicine program and take advantage of specific partnership funding and awards after direct access to an entrance interview with the medical school. 

This partnership gives you the opportunity to study (and eventually practice) medicine around the world – including in Canada! AUC School of Medicine maintains a campus on the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten and offers its medical program in Lancashire, UK, through the University of Central Lancashire. Regardless of program location, students have a network of training sites in the US, UK, and Canada during their third- and fourth-year clinical rotations.

Pathway Benefits

  • Guaranteed admissions interview with the medical school.
  • The International/Canadian Student Scholarship: $80,000 USD one-time award distributed across 10 semesters.
  • Laurier Partner Scholarship: One-time $7,500 USD awarded for the first semester of enrollment at AUC.
  • Housing allowances:
    • UK-track students receive a one-time first semester housing credit of £1,700 as a credit to their student account.
    • Sint Maarten campus students receive a one-time first semester on-campus housing grant up to a value of $4,750 USD.
  • Three application intakes to AUC School of Medicine each year.
  • UK-track students receive a Post Graduate Diploma in International Medical Sciences after the completion of the medical sciences curriculum (first two years of medical school curriculum).

Eligible Laurier students must meet all requirements for admission to AUC School of Medicine to take advantage of the pathway benefits.

Eligibility Requirements

Any graduating Laurier student who:

  • Achieves a minimum GPA of 7 or higher.
  • Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in any program.
  • Completes the following courses during their studies: BI110, BI111, CH110, CH111, CH202, CH203 and PC141 – or a statistics or calculus course.
  • Achieves an overall minimum of 490 (or higher) on the MCAT.
  • Any Laurier alumni from 2017 to present who meets the criteria listed above.
