Happy holidays, future Golden Hawk! It’s time to celebrate!
At the end of a long year probably filled with your own mix of setbacks and fresh starts, it’s time to reflect on 2024 and look ahead to the new year. We hope you enjoy some time off - whatever that looks like – while the team at Laurier breaks for the holiday season. Our offices will be closed for winter break from December 20 until January 2, but we know that the holiday season is a perfect time to apply.
With that in mind, even though we may not be around to answer your questions in-person, we’ve put together a holly-jolly list of resources and next steps you can take as you gear up for an exciting and rewarding 2025. There’s no time like the present to get the answers you need!
Applying over the holidays?
Please note that if you submit your application to Laurier between December 20 and January 1, it will not be received and processed by our Admissions team until early January. You will not receive any emails or access to your Applicant Portal until then, but this delay will have no impact on how we review your application or your potential at Laurier. For most programs, you can expect to hear back from us between three to four weeks after submitting your complete application, however admission decisions are made on an ongoing bases between December and May.

Make Some Money
Spend some of your free time over the holidays researching scholarship opportunities to help cover your tuition. Please be aware we are currently experiencing technical issues with various student award applications including our Laurier Scholars Award and Entrance Bursary applications which are closed until further notice. Our team is actively working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Don't worry, we will get these awards opened back up for you in the new year, and you can still take steps forward over the holidays to help you prepare your scholarship applications.
- Do your research: use the internet to search for any (and all) external funding opportunities available to you.
- Ask around: Ask your P/T employer or your parents' employers if they have any scholarship opportunities.
- Update your resume: Some award applications may require you to submit your resume. Consider making some changes to freshen it up.
- Plan Ahead: Pay attention to the deadlines of the awards you wish to apply for and add reminders to your calendar to make sure you don't miss the application cutoff dates.
