Health and Safety Protocols

Please note in job descriptions whether students will be working remotely, on site, or a combination of the two.

Please outline your organization's vaccine requirements in your job description. 

Recruiting Co-op Students

We look forward to helping you recruit co-op students. Please send a job description by email to your co-op co-ordinator or to lauriercoop@wlu.ca and let us know whether you are recruiting for fall or winter.

When can I recruit students for the winter 2023 work term?

• We will begin posting co-op jobs for the winter work term on Monday, September 12, 2022.
• We will continue posting jobs through Friday, September 23, 2022.
• We will hold interviews from Tuesday, September 27 through Friday, September 30 and from Monday, October 3 through Thursday, October 6.
• Please allow us to schedule interviews on your behalf. (This ensures you are able to enter rankings, and helps us avoid scheduling students for two interviews at the same time.)
• Please submit your rankings of students by 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 6.
• We will tell you the results of the ranking and matching process in the afternoon on Wednesday, October 12.

If you are not ready to post by September 23, you may participate in the continuous recruiting period, which begins October 13.

Am I too late to hire co-op students for the fall 2022 work term?

A few talented students are still seeking employment for fall 2022. During the continuous recruiting period, you may interview any business day. You will find full details on the recruiting dates page. 

Remote Work

Do you have any tips on training and supervising students remotely?

Most co-op students are scheduled to work on site. Some are working remotely, or in a hybrid of on site and remote. Here are some tips for training and supervising students remotely:

• Some employers ship laptops and other devices by courier to their co-op students before the work term. (The student returns the devices by courier at the end of term, and the company disinfects the devices before shipping them to the incoming co-op students.)
• CEWIL, the national association for co-op, provides resources for employers and students,H including tips on onboarding students remotely  and supervising students remotely.
• Visit the Ontario government's site for resources to prevent COVID-19 in the workplace.
