Waterloo - Wilfrid Laurier University is launching a webinar series to spark lively conversations about topical issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic and showcase the research and expertise of Laurier faculty, staff and alumni. The Inspiring Conversations series begins at the end of August and is free and open to the public.
“As we continue to work through this pandemic together, we’re thrilled to provide Laurier expertise to help guide the community through challenges they may be facing,” said Jason Coolman, Laurier’s vice-president of advancement and external relations. “These first two webinars will give attendees the opportunity to take home knowledge that they can apply directly to their lives.”
In the first webinar, The Role of Games in Learning and Connecting, Julie Mueller, professor and associate dean in the Faculty of Education, and Steve Wilcox, professor in the Game Design and Development program, will explore how parents can help their children learn and connect with others in a physically distanced environment through online games. Both professors will take questions from the audience after their presentations. This webinar will be held Aug. 27 at 1 p.m.
With schools, gyms and workplaces reopening, many are searching for a fresh start. In New Year’s Take 2: How to Find Motivation when the Future is Uncertain, Kim Dawson, professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, and Anne Wilson, a professor in the Department of Psychology, will discuss strategies for maintaining motivation in new habits, whether it’s going to the gym regularly or keeping up with homework. This webinar will be held Sept. 24 at 11:30 a.m.
All webinars are free and open to the public, but registration is required.
