Waterloo – For the third straight year, Wilfrid Laurier University has been named one of Waterloo Area’s Top Employers by Canada’s Top 100 Employers, an editorial competition that recognizes the nation’s best places to work.
“Supporting our employees in both their professional and personal lives is an institutional priority for Laurier,” said Deborah MacLatchy, Laurier president and vice-chancellor. “Our university succeeds when our employees succeed.”
Canada’s Top 100 Employers is an annual competition recognizing leading national and regional organizations that offer exceptional workplaces for their employees. Organizations selected for these awards redefine how people work and live by developing and adapting policies and procedures to meet the changing expectations of today’s workforce. While the recognition is awarded at a regional level, it is based on the university’s efforts across its multi-campus locations.
“We are proud to again be recognized as an organization that truly values its employees and provides a positive and engaging employee experience,” said Pamela Cant, chief human resources and equity officer. “Laurier’s focus is to ensure that our faculty and staff feel part of our thriving community and appreciated for their many contributions, so that they can provide the same positive experience for our students.”
Some of Laurier’s exceptional employer initiatives include:
Continued commitment to fostering an inclusive community through the creation of Laurier's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Indigeneity Action Plan, which includes recruiting the university’s first associate vice-president: Indigenous initiatives.
Ongoing commitment to enhancing the employee experience during COVID-19 by providing curated wellness resources, remote work guides, health and safety protocols for on-site employees, and remote teaching support.
Generous vacation, benefits and leave allowances.
Dedicated annual staff professional development and wellness events.
As an educational institution, Laurier inspires lives of leadership and purpose in its student community. As an employer, Laurier seeks, fosters and values the same qualities of leadership and purpose in its employee community. Learn more about what makes Laurier a great place to work
