For Immediate Release
WATERLOO – The Laurier Centre for Economic Research and Policy Analysis (LCERPA) at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Lazaridis School of Business and Economics is hosting its annual Economic Outlook event April 13, with this year’s theme centred around the economic recovery from COVID-19 entitled, Navigating a Complex Recovery.
Each year, LCERPA presents the Economic Outlook as a forum focused on giving the public more insight into the complex factors driving the regional, provincial, and national economy. This year’s event will be delivered through a moderated webinar discussing where we stand in the pandemic recovery, the importance of supply chains, and China’s expanding impact on the global economy.
The featured panelists will be Frances Donald, global chief economist and strategist at Manulife Investment Management, and Millan Mulraine, director and chief economist at the Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan. The event will be moderated by Brian McCaig, associate professor of economics at the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics.
“Complexity continues to be the watchword not only for Canada’s economic outlook, but the world’s as well,” said McCaig. “Our intention for this discussion is to provide some context and insight into the external forces causing an uneven recovery as we come out of the unique economic circumstances of the last two years.”
The panelists will provide their perspectives on how important current economic topics are affecting the recovery and markets. The discussion is planned to include the war in Ukraine and economic sanctions, ongoing uncertainty and the role of China in global supply chains, investing in a clean economy, and continuing high inflation.
This virtual event is free and open to all members of the public, but registration is required.
