For Immediate Release
Brantford – The first-ever Winter’s a Drag event at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Brantford campus will be moving indoors to the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts (88 Dalhousie St., Brantford, ON). Originally slated to be an open-air gathering in Downtown Brantford’s Harmony Square, event planners switched to an indoor space due to an unfavourable weather forecast.
Doors will open at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, and the performance will begin at 8 p.m. Admission is free and seating will be limited and available on a first-come, first served basis. The first guests to arrive will receive a free piece of Laurier gear and hot chocolate while quantities last. Prizes will be awarded throughout the evening, including gift cards to select downtown Brantford businesses. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Winter’s a Drag will be the first public in-person event mounted by the Brantford campus since the beginning of the global pandemic. Planning is led by Beth Sanders, Laurier’s Campus Experience Coordinator, a role created to bridge the Laurier campus and Brantford community in meaningful ways that contribute to the overall vibrancy of downtown Brantford.
Funded by the Laurier Student Life Levy, the event is billed as a celebration of talent and self-expression, and will feature a photo booth, glow furniture and a drag show spotlighting five performers from Vision Drag Artists. Plans for the event comply with all university and public health guidelines.
