For Immediate Release
Wilfrid Laurier University and the Waterloo Chapter of the International Women’s Forum (IWF), an organization dedicated to advancing women’s leadership globally, are marking International Women’s Day (March 8) with the return to an in-person luncheon event celebrating women’s leadership in sustainability and planetary health.
Women Leading in Sustainable Solutions will feature a panel discussion with Alison Blay-Palmer, professor of Geography and Environmental Studies and UNESCO Chair on Food, Biodiversity and Sustainability Studies; Priyanka Lloyd (MBA ’11), executive director, Green Economy Canada; and Marissa Vettoretti (BBA ’20), co-founder, EarthSuds. The discussion will be moderated by Carrine Chambers-Saini (BBA ’02), CEO and founder of Diva International.
Laurier’s president and vice-chancellor, Deborah MacLatchy, will give a keynote address to open the event.
“Finding solutions that address climate change impacts and the planet’s future will need a holistic approach that includes science, society and business,” said MacLatchy. “Laurier’s faculty, students and alumni are pushing the boundaries for more sustainable paths. I am looking forward to hearing from these amazing women who are leading the way.”
This is Laurier’s sixth annual International Women’s Day Luncheon in partnership with IWF. The luncheon is being held on March 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Delta Hotel Waterloo. Tickets are $50 and are available on the registration page.
