Print | PDFLaurier Helps Ukraine, a student club at Wilfrid Laurier University, invites the community to a benefit concert and silent auction to support various organizations assisting Ukrainians impacted by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Ukraine Benefit Concert takes place Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. in Lazaridis Hall at Laurier’s Waterloo campus. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.
The concert features performances by several Ukrainian and Canadian artists, including the Gryphon Trio, a three-time Juno Award-winning classical ensemble; the Penderecki String Quartet, the quartet-in-residence in the Faculty of Music at Laurier; and Stephen Zurakowsky, a Canadian-Ukrainian classical guitarist, among others. A silent auction will be held during the intermission. Snacks and beverages will be provided at no charge.
Funds raised through the event will be donated to Ukrainian support initiatives, including Help Us Help, a humanitarian organization providing medical supplies to volunteer groups in Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Saint Sophia’s ambulance fundraiser.
Tickets are $40 for general admission and $20 for students, and can be purchased online or at the event. Ticket sales for groups of five or more can be arranged by emailing laurierhelpsukraine@gmail.com.
