Print | PDFWilfrid Laurier University is set to welcome Professor Krista Munroe-Chandler of the University of Windsor Faculty of Human Kinetics, who will present a talk titled “Strong Minds Strong Bodies: How the UWorkItOut UWin Program Improves Students’ Mental Health” as part of the annual Dr. Fred Binding Lecture in Sport Psychology.
The Nov. 18 lecture – part of the Sun Life Financial Centre for Healthy Communities second annual conference – will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Senate and Board Chamber on Laurier’s Waterloo campus. The lecture is a free event open to all students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
Munroe-Chandler is recognized for her work in the psychology of sport, exercise and performance. She is co-director of the Sport Psychology and Physical Activity Research Collaborative at the University of Windsor and plays a lead role in “UWorkItOut UWin,” a six-week physical activity program at the University of Windsor that aims to improve students' mental health. Munroe-Chandler’s research interests also include mental imagery and mental skills training.
The Dr. Fred Binding Lecture series is an endowed event held in memory of Fred Binding, a long-time Laurier faculty member in the Department of Psychology. The lecture series features internationally known professors and researchers who lecture on topics related to sport and exercise psychology.
The Sun Life Financial Centre for Healthy Communities at Laurier seeks to improve activity levels and the overall health of youth and adults within the Waterloo community and beyond.
