Print | PDFWilfrid Laurier University is saddened by the passing of P.K. Kuruvilla, a former professor and chair in the Department of Political Science before his retirement in 1995. P.K. passed away on March 26, 2023, at the age of 88.
P.K.’s career at Laurier spanned three decades. He first joined Laurier in 1964 to help form the then-developing Department of Political Science and went on to serve as chair of the department for many years, specializing his studies in public administration. P.K. is remembered by colleagues for his kind and thoughtful ways. He was known for his gift of storytelling, passion for learning, love of running and dogs, and devotion to his family. P.K. supported many charities but held the life-changing work of Operation Smile in high regard.
Born in India, P.K. arrived in Canada in 1964 and obtained a doctoral degree in political science at Carleton University.
He leaves behind his daughter Susan, son Sunil, daughter-in-law Lisa, and grandchildren Isaac, Samuel and Anna, along with many family members and friends in North America and India.
