Print | PDFDo you have an idea to contribute to sustainability efforts at Laurier? If so, the Sustainable Hawk Fund can help turn that idea into reality.
An initiative of the Sustainability office, the Sustainable Hawk Fund awards up to $30,000 annually to projects that promote sustainability on campus and in the community.
The fund is open to students, staff and faculty across all campuses. Applicants must submit a completed application by Jan. 12, 2024. A business plan, creative work, project goals and deliverables can also be submitted with the application.
Promising applications will be invited to present a pitch to the Sustainable Campus Committee. The Committee is comprised of staff, faculty and students who provide input and feedback on project proposals.
Funding is split equally, with $15,000 to fund initiatives at Laurier’s Brantford campus and $15,000 to fund initiatives at Laurier’s Waterloo campus. Of the total funds awarded, $5,000 will be earmarked to fund projects led by Black, Indigenous, or racialized individuals, or projects focused on issues related to sustainability, race and equity.
Past projects have included an apiary on the roof of the One Market building on the Brantford campus and a Green Campus stormwater management program. Last year, eight projects were selected for funding. Learn more and apply today!
