Filming notice: Stunt and action scenes in alleyways and other special effects will be in use

The City of Brantford and Wilfrid Laurier University are hosting a large-scale film production in and around the areas of George Street, Dalhousie Street, King Street, Queen Street and Colborne Street from May 1 to May 8. 

The filming activity will impact access to some Laurier buildings and parking lots: 

• Closure: Gold Permit Parking behind the Special Constable Service Building at 45 Market Street will be closed from May 1 to May 8. Gold permit holders are encouraged to use other gold permit parking lots.
• Access: Gold Permit Parking between the Student Centre and the Research and Academic Centre will only be accessible via Dalhousie and Darling Street entrances. The entrance from George Street will be closed from May 6 to May 8. 

Members of the Laurier community should be aware that at times during filming, there will be an array of special effects in use, including explosives, pyrotechnics, fires, simulated gunfire, mock weapons, mock officers and vehicles, drones and simulated accidents. During filming, flags that normally fly in front of the Carnegie Building will be temporarily removed. While no filming activities are expected after 11 p.m. and before 7 a.m. on any production day, the production has applied for a noise bylaw exemption for the relocation of production vehicles. 

The production’s proposed schedule is as follows: 

• Pre-production and site preparation: May 1 to May 3
• Filming: May 6 to May 7
• Wrap-up: May 8

Road, Sidewalk, and Intermittent Traffic (ITC) Closures (permitting safe access to local traffic and pedestrians only) 

Road and sidewalk closure:  

• Queen St. (from Colborne to Darling) from May 1 at 6 a.m. to May 7 at 11 p.m.
• George St. (from Dalhousie to Darling) from May 6 at 7 a.m. to May 8 at 11 p.m.

Intermittent traffic closure:  

May 6 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. with short closures (about 5 minutes each) 

• Dalhousie St. and Queen St. intersection 
• Colborne St. and King St. (40m east)
• Dalhousie St. and Market St. intersection

May 7-8 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. with short closures (about 5 minutes each) 

• Dalhousie St. and George St. (40m east)
• George St. and  Darling St. intersection 

Through lane closures:  

• Dalhousie St. (south, 40m east and west of Queen) on May 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
• Dalhousie St. (north, George to Charlotte) on May 7-8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Parking (permitting safe access to local traffic and pedestrians only) 

Municipal parking lot: 

• Municipal Lot 4 (Dalhousie and King) from May 1 to May 8

Street parking: (May 6 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.) 

• Dalhousie St. (King St. and 50 m east, north side)
• Colborne St. (King to Harmony Sq, north and south side)
• King St. (Colborne to Dalhousie, east side)

Street parking: (May 7-8 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.) 

• Dalhousie St. (George to Charlotte, north and south side)
• Darling St. (Market to George, north and south side)
• Darling St. (George to Charlotte, south side)

Street parking: (May 1-8 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.) 

• 43-45 Market St. (3 spots, east side)

Members of the Laurier community are encouraged to keep these disruptions in mind when planning travel to and from campus.
