Print | PDFThe holiday season is approaching and brings with it opportunities to extend kindness, care and generosity to those in need.
Wilfrid Laurier University invites eligible faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of the university to help those in need of blood and blood products by making a life-saving blood donation this holiday season at a Canadian Blood Services clinic.
The holidays are traditionally a difficult time for Canadian Blood Services to fill donor appointments. While one in two Canadians are eligible to give blood, only one in 81 do. As a Partners for Life organization, Laurier can make a difference for patients in need of blood. To date, Laurier has fulfilled 73% of its annual Partners for Life pledge goal.
Join Laurier’s Partners for Life team and book your holiday donation today. If you are unsure if you are eligible to give blood, visit the Canadian Blood Services website for eligibility requirements or call 1.888.2.DONATE to speak with a nurse.
Giving near Laurier’s Waterloo and Brantford campuses is easy and convenient. Canadian Blood Services’ Waterloo clinic is located at 94 Bridgeport Rd. E. and open during the following times:
In Brantford, Canadian Blood Services will hold mobile clinics on the following dates (appointments must be booked in advance):
Members of Laurier’s Partners for Life team can give blood anywhere in Canada and have their donation included in the university’s annual pledge goal. Visit blood.ca to find a clinic or mobile location.
Laurier will host an on-campus blood donation clinic Jan. 29, 2025, in the Senate and Board Chamber in Waterloo. If you cannot donate ahead of the holidays, save the date to donate on campus. More details, including an online booking link, will be shared during the coming weeks.
Thank you, Laurier blood donors and champions, for giving back to our communities. You make the difference for friends, family members and neighbours in need of life-saving blood donations. Your generosity is golden!
