Zabedia is remembered for her dedication and care for students, innovative and impactful teaching, as well as her warmth, generosity and passionate commitment to social justice.

A gifted and creative educator, Zabedia earned her PhD in the Sociology and Equity Studies program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto in 2007. Her doctoral research focused on restructuring and anti-oppression and anti-racist organizational change in the Canadian financial sector.
“Dr. Nazim’s passing is a deep loss for our department as well as for all of us who knew and loved her,” said Laurier Sociology Professor Jasmin Zine, Zabedia’s friend and colleague for more than two decades.
