Print | PDFAs we return to classes on Monday following reading week, I recognize the profound impacts of the unfolding war in Israel and Gaza on members of our Laurier community. It is in the most difficult of times that communities are tested. I know that many in our community are directly or indirectly connected to the Middle East region and are experiencing loss and uncertainty and concern for family, friends and colleagues.
In an earlier message and recent messages to students, and faculty and staff, we have shared our condemnation of violence against civilians and our expectations of respect, compassion and care for one another, as well as supports and campus safety information. The physical safety, and mental and emotional health of our students, faculty and staff are our top institutional priorities, and there is no tolerance for antisemitism, Islamophobia, racism, hate, intimidation, harassment or violence amongst our community members.
As we return in full to our campuses during this very difficult time for so many, I urge everyone at Laurier to contribute to our inclusive and thriving community through respect, care and compassion.
