Bienvenida/Bienvenido al español en Laurier! Expand your appreciation for Spanish culture and society globally, and gain fluency in Spanish in the Bachelor of Arts Spanish program at Laurier.   • Business Spanish Certificate: Laurier’s Spanish program is the only Canadian representative of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI). Earn an official Basic Business Spanish certificate by taking our specialized courses and passing the MCCI exam, with our students achieving a 97% success rate over the past 18 years.
  • Get a Head-Start on Grad School: The Spanish program at Laurier equips you with the comprehensive knowledge needed for graduate studies in fields like Latin American or Peninsular Literature, Hispanic Studies, and Spanish Linguistics.
  • Pathways to an MBA: Combine your Spanish studies with a conditional offer to join our full-time MBA program (with co-op) upon graduation.

  • Co-op: Combine your Spanish program with another Arts major, such as Global Studies, and apply for co-op at the end of your first year to gain valuable real-world work experience.
  • Community Service-Learning: Many Spanish courses include a Community Service Learning (CSL) component, where students blend outside-the-classroom work experiences with academic content. 
  • Study Abroad in Spain: After your first year, study abroad in Spain with a Laurier faculty member during the summer for SP288, a 1.0-credit course, to enhance your language skills in an immersive environment.
  • Present Your Research: Showcase your language proficiency and explore culture or literature through presentations based on your coursework, research, or academic experiences.

Combinations or Combined Degrees

This program must be completed in combination with another Bachelor of Arts program. You can easily pair your studies with Anthropology, French, Global Studies, Communication Studies, Political Science, or Women and Gender Studies, among others.
